Athletics Practice

Last week we did athletics practice, we did long jump, discus, high jump, shot put, long distances, sprints. Yesterday we did athletics but I did go because because I was sick , but the athletics practice was fun, what I was good at was long jump and discus. My favourite part was long jump because I jumped the hole thing, My goal next year is to get better at high jump, long distances and sprints, the school has been practicing for one week. I felt happy when I did long jump because I nearly came jumped the hole thing. For sprints I was trying my best to come first second first or third.

Tornado

Welcome, if you want to learn about tornadoes well you are in luck because I am going to teach you about tornadoes, stay tune because I might blow you away. So today I am going to tell you all about different kinds of tornadoes and how they form and how they disappear. Did you know in 1884 there was the first tornado?

How does a tornado form? Well it starts with a storm and then a vortex comes in and makes the wind turn and turn until it gets bigger and bigger. It stops forming when it hits the ground. In the middle of the tornado there is a supercell and that is mostly what starts the tornado.

How does it go down? Well it pushes the cold air down and the warm air up and the upwards vortex makes it get bigger, when it hits the ground that's when it is born.

What different kinds of tornados are there? Well there are a lot of kinds of tornados. Now let's start; Average tornado, Dust Devil, Water Spout, Steam Twister, Fire Whirl, Oklahoma Tornado, Joplin Tornado, Tri-State Tornado, Moore Tornado, Daulatpur-Saturia Tornado, El-Reno Tornado that is the biggest Tornado in the world, now I'm going to tell you the biggest hurricane on EARTH, Typhoon Tip.

How fast are Tornados? The damage from tornadoes comes from the strong winds they contain. It is generally believed that tornadic wind speeds can be as high as 300 mph in the most violent tornadoes.

How does a Tornado die out? Tornadoes are able to die off when they move over colder ground or when the cumulonimbus clouds above them start to break up. It is not completely understood as to how exactly tornadoes form, grow and die.  

What kinds of stuff that tornadoes destroy. A tornado path can be very selective, destroying homes directly in it path, while neighbouring ones are untouched. Most people go and head for shelter.

What I think about tornadoes. I think that tornadoes are a death machine because they can destroy your house. Some people be stupid and go close to the tornado I hope they know that tornadoes can kill you. But I haven't seen a tornado before so I don't know what can it kill but I know it can kill people.

What is a hurricane? A hurricane can start a tornado it can flood houses and it can destroy houses.

My Character traits

For the past few week we have been reading a novel and this term I am reading about Among the hidden.

My Swimming Progress

So today we have had our last swimming lesson at the Canterbury Swim School. We have been swimming there for two weeks,

 My goal was to be better at backstroke, and now I am better. My next goal is to get better at freestyle.

Today we did a survival swimming lesson, we had to bring our clothes for swimming, but I forgot them. But it was fun what we did today. We got to take out clothes off but I didn't bring them so I didn't take them off or I would be naked, when I got out of the pool I felt happy and dizzy.

My Swimming

 So on Wednesday I went swimming with with class and I was in the big pool again.

I hope I get better with my backstroke with out a board. I am getting better with my freestyle.

I like swimming because I get to learn more how to swim, but I keep forgetting my togs, but the last two days was fun because I was in the big pool learning about Freestyle. 

My goal is to practice my backstroke so I can get better at it.   

   

My New Sister

Last week in the holidays I got to see my new baby sister, I got to hold her for about 1 hour. When I was holding her I fell asleep because I was so tired.

The next day I found out her name, Ava was her name, when she came home I got to hold her around the house and looked after her when my step mum and in bed and dad at work, and brother sleeping.

When I first saw Ava I didn't know what to say because I never had a baby sister before, I was mind blown, then my brother William gave Ava one of his teddy's that he got for his 1st birthday. I felt really proud to have a little sister

One night Ava was crying all night and I could not go to sleep because she was crying, when I woke up Ava was crying so I started to play on my phone until she stopped crying.

When I was making my lunch I heard Ava crying so I came into my dad's room and she was getting feed because I walked in at the wrong time after when she stop crying. When she stop getting feed I walked and and ask if I could hold her.

Before I left to go to my mums I ask if I could hold Ava about half an hour I fell asleep again, my brothers woke me up when my mum was here I gave Ava a kiss before I went back to my mum but then my mum was talking for half an hour talking about Ava, so I was the one sitting next to her just in case she started to cry.

The sky as blue as the sea, the clouds were as white as cotton candy.

I went to my cloud and he gave me a baby, he was crying until he gave him a football and some football gear, I soke my head meaning no he took it off because the people that get the baby won't like it.

I took it anyways and gave it to the owner was so happy that she got her baby girl, I went back to a cloud that was lonely and he gave me a crocodile, for a second a thought he was crazy but then he was serious, the crocodile jump and my head was in his mouth, he put in a bag and then I flew of away with it. I put the crocodile in the lake.

I came back and he was making a baby goat when he made it the goat just ran right into me , then he pack it up in the bag, I went away and put it in a farm so they can take care of them, I came back and he came out with a cloud that looked like a sheep, then it turn into a hedgehog I started to scream like I was just born because the spikes were right in my hand. I chuck it up into the air, then it landed into my hand again, the cloud put it into the bag but you could still could still see spikes because the spikes were coming out of the bag. I put the hedgehog in the garden.

I came back with spikes in my head, he took them out and my feathers came out with it then he put the feathers back, he turn around and pulled out a shark. Then I looked up at the other clouds and they were having fun with the baby chicks, then he offered me the shark then I flew away to another cloud, I looked back and I saw him angry, I felt sorry for him but I need to get amour if I am taking that shark. I took the bag that he gave and then look back at the cloud and was crying hard out, I came back with a bag and open it and it was football gear, he hug me and let me go because he was so happy, I ask for something then he made me a eel, the eel electric me but I can hold the pain in until I deliver it to the lake.

I didn’t tell the cloud my name.

How To Make Slime

Hello guys and welcome to my blog post about how to make slime.

So I do have a video for you guys so you can watch it 

1. Pour enough glue into the bottom of a container to cover the bottom.  Make the glue about 1/4 inch deep.
2.  Add food coloring if desired.  For this we put in 2 drops blue, 2 drops red.
3. Mix food coloring into glue.
4.  Add about 1.5x as much shaving cream as glue (again, this is not an exact science so don’t worry!)
5. Mix together the glue and shaving cream.

So that's all what you need to make fluffy slime

The Piano

I was sitting in the dark playing my piano my fingers were like wind, it was hard to look back stuff but when I started to play I was like in a spell and that is how I started to commemorate.

When I was playing the piano I felt cheerlessness and empty inside and dark out side, I was looking down at my fingers and they are going the speed I wanted them to be.

I still had my wedding ring on I said ‘I will never take it off.’ My left hand was spread out and my right was like it was stucked together.

I felt something pulling my hand back like a ghost but I didn't know what it was. Then a sound started to come from the other side of the piano, I put my hand back, I started to play I don't know who it was but I didn't care because the people that I love are dead.

I felt a shiver down my spine like something kissed me like good bye, I started to remember stuff that I did. I saw a wall and ran to it while the music is still going.

I was a medic with a gun just in case someone tried to kill me. He said to me ‘Should I go out’ I gave him a nod to go after five seconds he got shot, I lifted him up before he died I got really sad but he had to go.

I looked up to see if he was going to heaven.

I started to remember what I gave to my grandson, I gave him the box and it looked like a gun but when he sees it he will be happy. He opened the box and saw a horse, he picked up the horse and started to ride on it like he was crazy, it was like the happiest day of his life.

He came and jumped on the piano seat and started to play with me but when he jump, on he had to press one key and then that's it all my memory to him, then I will head off to heaven.  

My Extravaganza

School Extravaganza New Zealand Music Month 

On Wednesday and Thursday we had a school extravaganza.
I did the curtain and I helped people when they needed help and also pick stuff from the stage. 

It started at 6:00 pm and it ended around 8:00 pm

 I came dressed with a red tie, black jeans, and  blue and white dots on my top. That was my wedding clothes that I wore to my dad's wedding.

I did a dance called Sway, it was ball room dancing.

When we started to dance people started to say, ''Cute''. Here is the song so you can lessen to it.

The New Zealand Music Month is about to get Kiwi bands together and make music.

I started to laugh but then I stopped and did it right. When I got off the stage my teachers said to me,  ''Good job Josef you did well.''

The Ridge

I got off my boat but I made sure I had my bike to do the stunt that I'm going to do today. I jumped on my bike and started to ride it, the ride started to get very bumpy because there was rocks there and I started to go up a hill. I jump onto a big rock it was very scary because I thought I would fall off my bike, and then I jumped onto another rock the pedal touch the rock, It was scary. Then I did a turn with my bike where I jumped on the rock, I felt like a superstar. I started ride my back wheel touch the icy cold water, it flicked up on me and I was like what just touch me. I started to go on a broken branch that fell of a tree I said to myself ‘‘Why am I doing this?’’

I made sure I had my balance on the branch, I jumped on the rock like I was a pro, I double jumped and I jumped on a rock I nearly fell off my bike but I got stayed on my bike, I jumped onto a small rock and then jumped on the ground. It's fun jumping to rock to rock I fell like a superhero, I saw a bridge looking thing I had a idea to go thur it but where the waterfall was it looked weird looks like I might fall of it so I jumped like I do. At the end there was a branch so I turn and jump up a hill bit but if I fell I might hurt myself but I made it, I did three jump’s on it so I don't fall. I started to go up a little hill, I made it up and then I saw a wall. I jumped on it like I had super powers It was really dodgy but I started to ride again like nothing happened. It jumped on a rock like it was made for me to be there but i'm getting the hang of jumping on rocks and stuff I did a turn. I was riding on a rock thing near the water I did some awesome tricks with my front wheel I did a 180 and then a 180 again so fun. I was going up a hill I knew that my bike wont make it up there so I put  it on my back a walk up the hill. I was higher than clouds, from up here they look like cotton balls. I made it to the top I got on my bike and went down the hill, I saw a ramp but I dodge it and went down the safe way, I saw sharp rock I got worried about my tires because they might pop but they didn't. I got to the safe bit to get down. Then I stopped and started to take my bike up the hill again, I am nearly at the top again to ride back down, it was a mission to get to the top. Im at the top the sun is shining on me for bad luck. I'm riding up a hill to get back down. I jumped on a rock but I didn't know how far down it was so I just did it, I nearly hit myself on my bike but I didn't I rid of like nothing happened. I'm going down a big mountain, I was going down a bit more then I jumped onto a rock to finish my journey. I went down the steep way to see the grass, then I see the shiny water the looked like glass. There is a gap I jump and made it, I’m going down where there are stone. I see a fence I don’t know what to do, my front tyre touches the fence and I front flip over it. That is a best thing I ever did I kept riding like nothing happened. I see a beach so I went on that. I stopped on the beach and laid my bike on the ground and sat down saying to myself ‘‘Did I just do that all?’’     

Buster The Dog

It was Christmas eve and I looked outside and the snow looked as soft as a feather, I was happy with my owner jumping up and down on the bed. Until her mum came in and told her

‘‘get to bed’’. She looked out the window and her husband was building a trampoline. He cut himself with the pole to help the trampoline stand up, he started to move it, it looked like he needed some help but he got it. He went inside and then some foxes came on the trampoline and looked at each other and said ‘‘Should we start jumping? Maybe we can touch the moon’’ then they started to jump. It looked like they are having fun and then there is me in the house sad. Then a badger came on the trampoline the foxes started to look and the badger and then started jumping the badger said ‘‘Can I come and jump with you guys we could touch the moon’’ they started jumping more fun than ever. I was steering at the animals, I was jealous because they are on the trampoline and I'm inside. Then a hedgehog and a squirrel were on the trampoline, I was sad. It was Christmas morning my owner got out of bed and ran down the stairs. She went in the lounge and her dad opened the door, my owner started to run to the trampoline and then I ran to the trampoline like I was the flash, I started jump up and down like I was crazy. She looked at me like I was insane, but I didn't care because I was having so much fun, she looked disappointed in me.

Telling The Time

Cultural Super Haka

This is a photo of us year 4 and 6 boys doing a super haka.

We have been planning this for 3 weeks now. We have performed in front of a parents I got a little bit scared because I thought I will muck up I did muck up at the end because I did the move wrong. We have practiced in the hall and the calls, my friend told me that they can hear us from the other room. We had a couple of days practice. It got a little hard because I forgot one of the moves.

The Duathlon run

This is the duathlon run we had to do two laps around the high school cort. 

After that we had to run around our field two times. I came first in the race I got really puth. I was really happy when I came first . I had a stitch when I was doing my two laps.

The Flying Bird

W.A.L.T: Create an original sculpture using objects found on the beach.

Hi this is my creation from the beach find we did. I made a bird made out of shells I glue it with a hot glue gun.

I made this for my little brother that's turning 5 so I made him this.  

I called it The Flying Bird because it's a bird and you can hook it up somewhere and it will fly. I wanted to call it The Flying Bird because I think it suits the name.
This was fun because I had all the stuff to make it.

It has taken me two day to make it because one day for planning and the other day for doing it.

Other classmates had longer time for planning and glueing.

with the hot glue gun I glue my finger and nearly drop my Bird I made so I got really lucky. I want to make this for my brother because I broke his toy so I made him this.

Trip To Spencer Park

Success Criteria

• Each paragraph focuses on a different aspect of the topic; travelling, the beach, the lagoon walk, playground.

Trip To Spencer Park

On Friday, 104 people from Hornby Primary School went to Spencer park. We went there on a bus and I sat with Dominique and I showed her my Grandad’s work when we drove past.  The bus ride got bumpy when we were all most there because the roads are still damaged from the earthquakes.

When we arrived, we were told to make sure that the teachers could always see us. I found a coconut! I gave half the coconut to Jared. I thought that the coconut must have come from a coconut tree, but there were none.

First, we went for a lagoon walk. I saw some birds but they were far away and I didn’t know what they were called. I saw a cabin that was used for hunting. There was a brown horse and a black and white dog.

Next, we went for a beach walk. We collected shells and driftwood from the beach. I also found a crab’s shell and a dead bird. This gave me an idea for my art creation that I would do later at school.

I learned to keep hunting to find some good stuff the the beach.

On the way back to school I fell asleep on the bus. I whacked my head and then I woke up and we were going past my house. When we got back to school the bell rang and I got my scooter and my bag and went home but I fell off because I got really tired.

Motocross track

W.A.L.T: Learn about motocross tracks.

Here is a video that me and Aisa has been working hard on about our motocross track. In our track it has bumps, potholes and jumps. It was hard to make it because we had to restart our track because it took up a lot of space on the cardboard. I felt happy when I got it done and when we got the recording done.

In Ako Ngatahi we had to write a narrative about a video. It was about a boy opening a present that was a dog with three legs. Here is the video of the present. I hope you enjoy my story.

The Present

It was Sunday morning I was playing my Xbox 360. Then my mum came in with a box I saw her and wonder if it was a Xbox one. Mum put it on the table and then Ir Open the box. So I open the box and a dog jump out I put it up and then I saw 1 leg missing so I drop it on the ground  and then the dog saw a red ball and tried to get the red ball and it ran into the door and then got under the desk and got the red ball and gave it to me. I kick the ball into the box and the dog went into the box and the box tip on him then i giggle a little bit and then played with the dog so the dog and I went outside to play with the ball with my dog but befor I went outside I said to mum  ‘Mum i'm going outside. I got the bull and I made the dog chase the bull then he fell over with the bull and he keep on doing it for 10 minutes. Started to laugh so hard that my face got really red

My learning goals

   This is My Learning Goals  for 2017.  I had my parent interview last night and I told them about my evidence of my work. It took me like a one week to do it all  and a day to add it all I think it's cool and I really like it. I hope you like it to. 

Cyber Smarts DLO

On Thursday we went to the High school to lessen the John Parsons about Cyber Smart and me safe online.  John was a little funny about dad jokes and he said about 'If someone's being mean to you take a screenshot and put it in a file called mum and dad's info'. Now I know what to do what to do when someone's being mean to me online so now im safe. This is to tell you what to do online if people being mean to you.  

I Am poem

This is I am poem It has taken me 1 day to animation and it took me 1 day to add all of the slides and do the animate all the stuff it took me not even 1 day. I hope I did this other time because it was so fun.
